Program Description
The Barber Operator Program is a comprehensive course of study designed to prepare students for professional barbering through the full practice of traditional barbering. The program focuses on the development of both technical skill and theoretical knowledge
required for licensure and long-term success in the barbering profession.
This program goes beyond the apprentice level and provides in-depth instruction in haircutting, shaving, grooming, sanitation, professional practices, and New York State barbering laws. Students progress through structured coursework that emphasizes mastery of barbering techniques and professional standards.
The Barber Operator Program is conducted entirely on campus and provides an immersive, in-person learning environment. Through classroom instruction and supervised clinical training with real clients, students are prepared to sit for the New York State Barber Licensing Examination and pursue opportunities in barbershop supervision and ownership.
Graduates of the program are equipped with the skills, discipline, and regulatory knowledge necessary to obtain licensure and enter the barbering profession with confidence.
Program Objective
The objective of the Barber Operator Program is to provide comprehensive training that enables students to:

Instructional Method
The Barber Operator Program is delivered entirely through on-campus instruction, providing students with a fully in-person educational experience.
Instruction follows a structured sequence from basic subjects to more advanced topics in accordance with established instructional techniques. Teaching methods include classroom lectures, instructor demonstrations, visual aids, textbook review, written and practical testing, and supervised hands-on training.
Practical instruction includes mannequin practice and extensive work with real clients in a clinical setting under the direct supervision of licensed instructors. This approach allows students to build a strong foundational understanding while progressively developing practical skills and professional confidence.
