The Barbering for Cosmetologists II – Hybrid Program is a specialized course of study designed for individuals who are already licensed as cosmetologists or who possess advanced education and training in cosmetology. The program provides focused instruction in traditional and modern barbering while building upon existing cosmetology knowledge
and experience.
This hybrid-format program prepares students for professional barbering through a structured blend of technical skill development and theoretical instruction. Coursework emphasizes barber-specific services, including clipper cutting, facial shaving, beard design, sanitation, professional practices, and New York State barbering laws.
The program combines distance education for theory-based instruction with in-person, on- campus training for hands-on practical application. Practical training is conducted in
classroom and clinic environments offering barber services to the public and is designed to prepare students to sit for the New York State Barber Licensing Examination.
Graduates of the program are equipped with the barbering skills, professional discipline, and regulatory knowledge necessary to pursue licensure and employment within the barbering profession.

97 hours of theory instruction are delivered through distance education. This portion of the program includes structured learning activities such as assigned readings, live virtual lectures, computer-based coursework, instructional videos, guest presentations, and guided theory modules.
303 hours of practical instruction are completed on campus in classroom and clinic environments. Hands-on training includes instructor demonstrations, mannequin practice, and supervised work with real clients in a clinical setting.
All practical training is conducted under the direct supervision of licensed instructors and is designed to reinforce professional technique, safety standards, client service, and workplace readiness.
